Unit 34 I can hardly get out of the house.
父親剛要出門(mén),又回來(lái)了。他說(shuō),雪太大。他說(shuō),連門(mén)都出不去了:
I can hardly get out of the house.
你一年都沒(méi)有見(jiàn)過(guò)他,以為他出國(guó)了??墒怯幸淮瓮蝗辉诮稚嫌龅剿?,你說(shuō),簡(jiǎn)直沒(méi)有想到他還在這:
I hardly expected to find you still here.
在記者招待會(huì)上他提出了問(wèn)題。可是你說(shuō),他提到的問(wèn)題幾乎都沒(méi)有切中要害:
The questions you raised are hardly to the point.
那天他顯然是不同意你的想法。你說(shuō),他一直都沒(méi)說(shuō)什么話:
He hardly spoke a word the whole time.
他剛剛賺到一點(diǎn)錢(qián)就計(jì)劃去買(mǎi)貴重的衣服。你說(shuō),現(xiàn)在根本不是購(gòu)買(mǎi)貴重衣服的時(shí)候:
This is hardly the time for buying expensive clothes.
他借了你的書(shū)不還。你對(duì)他說(shuō),他別再指望你借東西給他了:

弟弟遇到老朋友,朝人家打口哨。你說(shuō),那可不是對(duì)熟人打招呼的方式:
That's hardly the way to greet a friend.
他說(shuō)他一天寫(xiě)了五首詩(shī)。你說(shuō),難以置信:
I can hardly believe that.

hardly adv. 簡(jiǎn)直沒(méi)法(多與can 連用,意為almost not);簡(jiǎn)直沒(méi)有,簡(jiǎn)直不;幾乎沒(méi)有(與any連用);完全不是……,很難(有理由)(意為not at all, can't very well);幾乎從來(lái)不,很少(與ever連用,意為almost never)
hardly…when 剛……就
