Are People Becoming Addicted to Technology?

Numerous studies claim that addiction to technology is real and it has the same effect on the brain as drug addiction. In modern society, people are indeed becoming addicted to technology.

People’s addiction to technology is mainly reflected in two ways. First, people depend on digital devices because they bring convenience to daily life. For example, people can make payment on smartphones just by scanning QR codes, which saves them the trouble of carrying a wallet. Second, some video games are too engaging that people with little self-control can hardly drag themselves away from the screen. These people, most of whom are unable to acquire equal level of happiness elsewhere, are more susceptible to technological addiction.

As for how to avert such an unwanted trend, we should all make our best to spend less time on digital products and other technological inventions. Moreover, school-aged children should be limited, if not forbidden, to use smartphones and tablets to prevent addiction.

In conclusion, over-dependence on technology is seemingly inescapable yet we should strive to avoid it as much as possible.
