作者簡介：

艾米莉·勃朗特（1818-1848），19世紀英國小說家、詩人，英國文學史上著名的“勃朗特三姐妹”之一。這位女作家在世界上僅僅度過了三十年便默默無聞地離開了人間，然而她唯一的一部小說《呼嘯山莊》卻奠定了她在英國文學史以及世界文學史上的地位。此外，她還創(chuàng)作了193首詩，被認為是英國一位天才型的女作家。

她生性獨立、豁達、純真、剛毅、熱情而又內(nèi)向，頗有男兒氣概，酷愛自己生長其間的荒原，平素在離群索居中，除去手足情誼，最喜與大自然為友，從她的詩和一生行為，都可見她天人合一宇宙觀與人生觀的表現(xiàn)，有人因此而將她視為神秘主義者。其實人與自然的關系，從來就是人類文明史上重要的命題，艾米莉不過是步歷代哲人、隱者、科學家、藝術家后塵，通過生活和創(chuàng)作，身體力行地探尋人與自然的關系。

I snuffed it off, and, very ill at ease under the influence of cold and lingering nausea, sat up and spread open the injured tome on my knee. It was a Testament, in lean type, and smelling dreadfully musty: a fly-leaf bore the inscription --`Catherine Earnshaw, her book', and a date some quarter of a century back. I shut it, and took up another, and another, till I had examined all.?Catherine's library was select, and its state of dilapidation proved it to have been well used; though not altogether for a legitimate purpose:?scarcely one chapter had escaped a pen-and-ink commentary--at least, the appearance of one--covering every morsel of blank that the printer had left.?
