Gold collar workers are typically understood to be young, well-educated professionals. The collar gold applies to these workers because they are highly skilled.

The 2010 job fair for gold collar workers is crowded with hundreds of elite workers. The number of companies and institutions joining the fair has risen by 50 percent compared with last year.

Most job hunters are white collar workers who earn a monthly salary over 10,000 yuan, or corporate executives and managers who intend to transfer into gold collar positions.

Senior management positions in famous companies are what these job hunters prefer the most. Some employers explain:

"We would pay an annual salary of 80,000 yuan at least, with no upper limit."

"For the position of sales director, we would pay about 200,000 to 500,000 yuan a year."

Bai Yutong, a job hunter, has been a PR manager of a real estate company, with an annual salary of 150,000 yuan. Among over 1,600 vacancies provided by companies in the job fair, he prefers the position of marketing director of Founder Group. As he dreams to earn 200,000 a year, he hopes this IT company can make his dream come true.

"I was in my previous job for five to six years. Now I have to think about the long term plan for my career development. For the salary, of course, I want to step up to a higher level."

A number of real estate companies with more than 700 vacancies present on-site. And some provide salaries comparatively higher than others. An employer Wu Zhuang, from real estate company Macrolink Group, has this to say.

"This year we have more projects. That's why we are recruiting more people recently. An annual salary between 200,000 to one-million yuan will be possible."

Not only elites in Beijing are seeking better opportunities at the job fair. White collar workers from other places outside Beijing are also in attendance.

"In Changchun, I earn about 100,000 yuan a year. I hope to earn more here."

White collar workers, no matter which city they come from, can use the job fair as a platform for their further career development. Most of them have their own houses and private cars. They are not in urgent need of money, all they want from a new position is the second peak of their career.
