Hello and welcome to this edition of Travel Blog. People say if you get only one second to see the world, see Istanbul. So today, we'll go on a trip to Turkey with Winnie. She's gonna share with us her experience in Turkey and give us some tips on traveling in Turkey.

"The whole trip took me 12 days. It started from Istanbul, the biggest and one of the most important cities in Turkey. After four days, I went to Ephesus, the best-preserved Roman city in the Mediterranean region. After that, I went to Pamukkale, which means cotton castle in Turkish."

Turkey's landscape is dotted with old battlegrounds, ruined castles and the palaces of great empires. Its capital, Istanbul, is hot, not only in terms of weather. Winnie says her impression of the city can be summed up with three terms: blue, smiles and paradise.

"The moment I got off the plane, (come ) out of the airport, I immediately fell in love with the city, and the beautiful scenery of Istanbul. It's blue everywhere -the sky is blue, blue mosque, and blue street. Everything's so beautiful. You can see flowers everywhere."

The city's abundance of important historic buildings and exciting new art galleries and museums provides visitors with more than enough to see.

"Istanbul is a mixture of history and modern life. It's like a melting pot, different people, different race and culture. If you like (are interested in) history, Istanbul has thousands years of history for you to learn. And if you like architecture, Istanbul has hundreds of mosques to explore."

At night, locals flock to see and be seen at an ever-growing array of bars, clubs and restaurants. However, that's not to say that the locals are turning their backs on much-loved city institutions such as taverns or tea gardens. They know, after all, that such institutions are one of the reasons that their home is - and always has been - rightfully dubbed the "City of the World's Desire." Winnie says people in Turkey have a clear idea of how to enjoy life.

"I stayed in a very small hotel. The owner of the hotel told me they just work in summer every year. They spend most of their winter time to decorate their hotel. He told me the most important thing for him is to enjoy life, instead making money."

People in Turkey are friendly, open-minded and humorous. Winnie says that's why she likes Turkish people very much.

"They will smile to you when you look at them. And they will try to talk to you, no matter whether they can speak English or not. And they will be very eager to teach you Turkish if you ask them to do so. And they'll invite you to their home (house) and prepare a cup of Turkish tea for you."

Winnie adds Turkish people are similar to Chinese people. They passionately love their country and they cherish their families. You can find the national flag everywhere, no matter if it's a small ticket office, bus station or a mosque.

In istanbul, Winnie says her favorite food is kebab, which is Turkish roast meat. She says it's similar to the Turkish roast meat found on the streets of Beijing.

The best times to visit istanbul are spring and autumn, roughly from April to May and September to October, when the weather is perfect.

During July and August, it is hot and steamy; chilly winter winds and snow are common in the winter. During the warmer months, many art festivals and music events are held, giving the visitor plenty of choice when it comes to entertainment.

And getting to istanbul is easy. There are two international airports, two bus stations with arriving and departing international services and two international rail stations.

Next week, Winnie will continue talking about her trip to Turkey. Apart from some travel tips, she will share with us her ideas about how to plan a trip for yourself.
