跳至Season 6，Chandler和Monica的情侶關(guān)系已確定，某些人要開始搬家嘍！新生活開始啦！
Scene 1 Chandler要搬出去，賬單怎么辦？
要點：in charge of 負(fù)責(zé)，主管
???????? cover 庇護(hù)
Chandler: I’m gonna be moving out, so you’re gonna be in charge of paying the rent.
錢德勒：我要搬過去了，所以你得開始交房租了。
Joey: Right. When is that due?
喬伊：好的。什么時候交呢？
Chandler:The first of the month.
錢德勒：當(dāng)月1號。
Joey:And that’s every month?
喬伊：每個月都要交嗎？
Chandler:No, just the month you want to live here. Ok, here’s the phone bill.
錢德勒：不是，你住在這的月份才要交。好了，這個是電話費的單子。
Joey: Oh, my God!
喬伊：我的天哪！
Chandler: That’s our phone number.
錢德勒：那是我們的電話號碼。（Joey尷尬地笑）
Chandler: I know I kind of this me-moving-out-on-you thing. So why don’t I just cover you for a while?
錢德勒：是我突然決定要搬走的。不如我先幫你擋一陣子吧？
Joey:No, no, no way. Joey Tribbiani does not take charity …anymore.
喬伊：不行，絕不可能。喬伊·特里比亞尼再也不接受施舍了
。
Notes： charge of: 負(fù)責(zé)，總管，例：
She is in charge of our school.
她是我們學(xué)校的負(fù)責(zé)人。
若要讓賓語變成主語，我們則可以變換下短語，成為in the charge of(由……負(fù)責(zé)，掌管，看護(hù)），例：
The school is in the charge of Sarah.
薩拉掌管整個學(xué)校。
同樣表示“掌管，主管”的短語中有一個很生動：behind the wheel(在駕駛，掌管），例：
In this company, Tom is just the manager, Ray is actually the one who is behind the wheel.
在這個公司，湯姆只是個經(jīng)理，雷才是真正掌事的人。
2. cover既可以做名詞又可以做動詞，它的意思特別多。在這里表示“庇護(hù)”。Chandler實在放心不下他的朋友大男孩Joey，主動提出要為對方多承擔(dān)一陣子生活費用。比起pay for, afford, “cover”這個詞真的挺溫暖。
cover up (for) 蓋住，遮住，掩蓋，掩飾，包庇，例：
He tried hard to cover up for his friend but in vain.
他努力為朋友掩飾，結(jié)果還是徒勞。

Scene 2 “你打包了沒？”
要點：be packed 打包
??????? be lousy at doing something 非常不擅長做某事
??????? help out 幫助……解決困難，擺脫困境
Monica: You’re packed, though, right? Please tell me you’re packed.
莫妮卡：不過你都打包好了吧？拜托你說是!
Rachel: Of course I’m packed. Monica, relax.
瑞秋：我當(dāng)然打包好了。莫妮卡，放松。
但事實上Rachel一點兒都沒打包，整個房間亂七八糟的。Monica走了進(jìn)來，被眼前的景象驚呆了。
Monica:You’re not packed. You’re not packed even a little bit.
莫妮卡：你沒打包！一點兒都沒！
Rachel:Surprise! Don’t be mad. Because this is what happened. I started packing, then I realised that “What am I doing?”. I’m lousy at packing, right? But you love packing. So it’s a gift
to you for our last night.
瑞秋：驚喜！別生氣。事情是這樣的。我打包的時候突然想到：我在干嘛？我根本不會打包，對不對？但是你特別喜歡打包。所以我決定把它送給你當(dāng)做臨別禮物。
Well,這個驚喜可是正中下懷，Monica的整理欲和控制欲頓時被激發(fā)出來，毫無疑問，所有人都跑不掉，都得幫忙，因為Monica是指揮官。Rachel,你咋這么急智？
Monica：Phoebe, go to tell the guys they have to help out.
莫妮卡：菲比，去讓那些家伙來幫忙。
Notes：
既可以做名詞又可以做動詞，在這里是是動詞，表示“包裝，打包”。關(guān)于整理行李，如果說得太正式，就沒有口語的樂趣了，所以用be packed再好不過。這里的“You’re packed.”可不是說Rachel被打包，而是Rachel的行李被打包。是不是既簡單生動又實用？
In fact, I think I’m good at packing and already packed for the coming travel.
事實上，我覺得自己很擅長打包，而且已經(jīng)為即將到來的旅行打包好了行李。
2. be lousy at doing something 最不擅長做某事，例：
She is really lousy at tiding up.
她特別不擅長整理。
3. help out 幫助……解決困難，擺脫困境，例：
what exactly can I do to help out these children?
我到底要怎么做才能幫這些孩子脫離困境？
Scene 3：“我能照顧好自己！”
要點：get it out of your head 擺脫……想法，放下……念頭
Look! Chandler, you gotta get it out of your head that I can’t take care of myself, Ok? Look! I’m not gonna miss you helping me out with money. The only thing I’m gonna miss is you.
嘿，錢德勒，你必須放下我照顧不了自己這個念頭，好嗎？我不會想念你給我錢幫我脫困，我只會想念你。
Notes: get it out of your head 擺脫……想法，放下……念頭，例：
Be confident and persistent. Get it out of your head that you may fail the examination.
