Scene 1
要點:Be my guest.
Phoebe:Why don’t you go up there to ask him to just like “Step slightly, please.”?
Monica:I have, like five times. But the guy is so charming. I go up there to yell, and then I end up apologizing to him.
Phoebe: That is silly. I’ll go up to tell him to keep it down.
Monica:All right. Be my guest.
Notes: Be my guest.
Long time no see. Come in and make yourself at home.
I know you like the desserts. Be my guest.
Ross:Chandler, there’s a party tomorrow. You’ll feel better then.
Chandler: I’m gonna be okay. You don’t have to throw a party for me.
Monica: It’s Joey’s birthday.
Chandler:Well,he totally screwed up the punch line. You know ,it’s supposed to be…
Notes:throw a party
Tomorrow is their anniversary. Let’s throw a surprise party.
She screwed up the jar.
Don’t screw up your job.
I finally screwed up enough courage to learn to drive the car.
He drank the medicine and screwed up his face.
Scene 2 Rachel
pay my dues 付出代價
Oh, God. I hate my job. I hate it. I want to quit, but then I think I should stick it out. Then I think:why would a such person stay in such a
demeaning job? Just because it’s remotely related to the field they are interested in? I don’t mind paying my dues. But how much will I learn about fashion by walking Myra, the
arthritic seamstress to the bathroom?
Please stick out your tongue.
She stuck out in that fancy dress.
You have to stick it out to achieve your goal.
I’ve got to pay my dues to lose some weight.

Scene 3 Joey
You gotta be cool. Because grandma doesn’t know about you two yet and you do not want to tick her off.
Notes:tick off 給……
She ticked off some items on the shopping list.
Harry ticked off the names of the guests.
He ticked Sarah off by telling her this news.
Nancy ticked me off for being late.
That’s all for now. A piece of cake(小菜一碟), right?
