Steven: What role will the teacher play in schools, do you think, in future?

Dr. Seymour Papert: Guiding students. It is not a competition between teachers and students. Between teachers and computers, I think the computer helps teachers to be more effective. So I don’t think the computer teaching the students thing, or even it does. At all ages, , people who are learning, need advice and guidance from people who know that area.

Steven: Will this wide application of computers be a challenge to traditional schools?

Dr. Seymour Papert: Certainly there is a challenge for traditional school to change their methods.

Steven: And the contents.

Dr. Seymour Papert: And the contents.

Steven: This might be a much harder thing for traditional schools.

Dr. Seymour Papert: I think so, it will take time for them to change the contents.

Steven: OLPC is just a small part of the big changes.

Dr. Seymour Papert: Yeah, a step to all the changes.
