??? 說起RENTALS的主腦MATT,他曾是WEEZER樂隊的BASS手。1994年，WEEZER剛剛成功發(fā)表處男大碟，MATT卻利用樂隊巡演中的間隙，與鼓手PAT一同組建了RENTALS樂隊，不但親自出馬主唱兼貝司，他還邀來了一位女歌手以及其他樂手共同錄制專輯。1995年年底RENTALS在主流大廠REPRISE旗下發(fā)表了首張專輯Return Of The Rentals，整張唱片帶著濃重的新浪潮氣息，而動聽的旋律又充分顯示了Matt Sharp不凡的才氣，當(dāng)時許多評論都對這張唱片大加贊賞。到了1998年，MATT因為眼見RENTALS有更好的發(fā)展而退出了WEEZER。樂隊的第二張專輯Severn More Minutes因為有Blur的Damon Albarn、Ash的Tim Wheeler、Elastica的Donna Matthaws、Lush的Miki Berneyi等英倫巨星參與，而成為一時佳話。但這張專輯卻叫好不叫座，商業(yè)成績并不是太好。近幾年Matt Sharp開始單飛發(fā)展，發(fā)表了兩張頗有獨立民謠色彩個人專輯，反響還不錯。

??? The Rentals的這次回歸給人感覺相當(dāng)驚喜，因為他們帶來一張非凡的創(chuàng)意混合作品“Songs About Time”，包括歌曲，攝影作品以及設(shè)計圖稿，而這張EP《Story of a Thousand Seasons Past》便是這張作品的第一部分，感覺相當(dāng)不錯。(文字來源網(wǎng)絡(luò))
