One day a man went to an auction. While there, he bid on a parrot. He really wanted this bird, so he got caught up in the bidding. He kept on bidding, but kept getting outbid, so he bid higher and higher and higher.

一天一個(gè)人去參加拍賣(mài)。他相中了一只鸚鵡，他真的很想要這只鳥(niǎo)兒，于是他在競(jìng)價(jià)中緊緊跟著。他一直出價(jià)，出得比別人都高，最終，價(jià)格一路水漲船高。

Finally, after he bid way more than he intended, he won the bid - the parrot was his at last!

在出到比預(yù)想要高得多得的價(jià)格后，他贏了這次競(jìng)價(jià)，鸚鵡終于是他的了！

As he was paying for the parrot, he said to the Auctioneer, "I sure hope this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it, only to find out that he can't talk!"

他去付錢(qián)時(shí)對(duì)拍賣(mài)人說(shuō)，“我希望這只鸚鵡一定要會(huì)說(shuō)話。如果出了這么高的價(jià)，它還不能說(shuō)話的話，我肯定會(huì)很難過(guò)的?！?/div>

"Don't worry." said the Auctioneer, "He can talk. Who do you think kept bidding against you?"

“不要擔(dān)心?！迸馁u(mài)人說(shuō)，“它可以說(shuō)話的。你以為時(shí)誰(shuí)在競(jìng)價(jià)時(shí)一直跟你對(duì)著干？”
