From the way the person spoke, Hodge could tell it was not text converted and read out by a computer. Someone was speaking on the side, but the voice had been changed. To him, the voice always sounded the same, so Hodge imagined the voice he heard each time was from the same person, though he could not be totally sure. Though he was slighted reserved in the beginning, Hodge was persuaded by the offer. The next thing he knew, he was already working for that voice on the other side of the line.
