We're always being told not to play with our food.

However, one woman proved that it might not be a such a bad idea, after she discovered how to make elaborate artwork out of Rice Krispies.

Jessica Siskin, from New York, began experimenting with the cereal three years ago and has since created everything from emojis to Kim Kardashian's famous behind.

She now sells the tasty treats under the name of Misterkrisp.

Ms Siskin first came up with the idea in 2013 when she was invited to a friend's bring-a-dish birthday dinner. However, unable to cook anything apart from heart-shaped Rice Krispie treats, the student decided to get creative and made her friend a surfboard out of the cereal.

And she was so proud of her work that she tried out even more daring designs.

Speaking on her website, Ms Siskin, said: 'When I realized that food coloring could be added to the side-of-the-box recipe, I felt an immediate and overwhelming impulse to make a Rice Krispies Treats cheeseburger.

'I'm weird like that. When I put all of the pieces together I screamed out loud - it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. None of my neighbors came to check on me.

'I brought my creation to work the next day, where people freaked out before devouring it; I posted a photo of my creation on Instagram, where my ex liked it and I freaked out.

'I continued to experiment with Rice Krispies Treats recipes, techniques, and designs until Misterkrisp was born in October 2013.'

Each treat typically takes between 40 minutes and two hours to make.

And she has since made a booming business, with her DIY Emoji Krispkit selling at $51 (£36) alone.

While she doesn't list prices for most of the items pictured on her Instagram account, she includes an email address where customers can place orders and request more information.

Ms Siskin told the fashion site Bib and Tuck that her favourite Krisps are those masquerading as other foods.

She also enjoyed recreating Olaf, the snowman from Frozen.

'I'm consistently inspired by pop culture and always trying to think of quirkier ways to address the zeitgeist in Krisp form,' she said.

Ms Siskin is also a creative writing student.
