kitchen pass

n. Permission from one's spouse to attend an event or go on an outing.

kitchen pass,不要被字面意思騙了。并不是指你進廚房還要得到允許,而是指如果你要出去的話,得先得到在廚房里忙活的伴侶的同意。

不過這個短語和妻管嚴(hen-pecked husband)還是有區(qū)別的。妻管嚴還可以用:be tired to one's apron strings 來表達,被系到某人的圍裙上,可想而知受控制的程度啦。
