奧巴馬的美洲事務(wù)顧問丹尼爾·雷斯特雷普此前對媒體說,經(jīng)濟危機,能源與氣候挑戰(zhàn),公共安全將是奧巴馬在本屆美洲國家首腦會議上同其他國家領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人重點討論的話題。

1.Richard Phillips has returned home and balloons and signs welcomed the captain of the ship seized by Somali pirates back to his small Vermont town of Underhill Friday. Phillips was rescued in a daring Navy Seal sniper operation on Easter Sunday.

2.Federal air authorities say one person was onboard the small twin-engine plane when it crashed into a home outside the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, slicing the house down the middle and bursting into flames. Firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze.

3.President Barack Obama has arrived in Trinidad for the 34-nation Summit of the Americas meeting. The weekend gathering of Western Hemisphere Leaders will focus on the same issues Obama has been discussing with Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon: drug violence, global warming, the recession and poverty.

4.Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist Tyler Hamilton, whose win at the Athens Games was overshadowed by a blood doping scandal, retired from cycling after testing positive for another banned substance.?
