Six people have been killed after a Chinese fishing boat caught fire off the coast of Japan. The Chinese Consulate-General in Fukuoka says 2 others were injured, one of them seriously.

The tragedy happened about 280 km northwest of Amami Island, in Southern Japan's Kagoshima Prefecture on Friday. According to the official, there are 24 crew members on board of the Zhejiang registered boat, all Chinese. One of the wounded was taken for medical treatment by a passing Chinese boat. After the fire, the fishing boat was still able to sail normally. It will travel back to China as soon as possible with the bodies of the six crewmen and the others.
