The finale of the eight-leg FINA short-course World Cup came to close at the National Aquatics Center here on Thursday.

The hosts China claimed one gold, 8 silvers and 3 bronze with the lone gold for China coming from Shao Yiwen in the women's 400-meter freestyle.

Shao, who was the double gold medal winner in 400-meter freestyle and medley at this stop last year, got off a good start.

The Chinese teenager swimmer took the lead after the first 200 meters and finished comfortablely ahead of New Zealand's Lauren Boyle in three minutes, 58.92 seconds. Miireia Belmonte of Spain came to third.
