We now turn to the city of Yuyao in east China’s Zhejiang Province, which was hit by heavy rain and severe flooding, after typhoon Fitow swept through the area.

In response to on-line criticism of its inadequate actions dealing with the disaster, the city government has spoken out about its relief efforts. Also, emergency medical teams are in town to treat the injured and prevent post-flooding epidemics.

With the help of an unmanned aircraft, we were able to catch these images of the city of Yuyao... 5 days after Typhoon Fitow swept through the area.

Now, staggering numbers of economic losses come in as the water slowly recedes.

The city government has also used the press conference to address worries over unfair resource distribution.

Meanwhile, nearly 70 thousand residents are still cut off from electricity. Emergency power supply vehicles have been sent to some neighborhoods where people waited anxiously.This woman tells us she wants to turn on the TV to find out what’s happening as soon as the power comes back on...

Emergency teams with medicine to treat respiratory and other diseases have arrived in the city. This two year old boy, who had just had heart surgery when the typhoon hit, is having the dressing changed on his chest.

The teams are also charged with preventing epidemics and supervising hygienic conditions.

Over the night, relief efforts from the military focused on ferrying food to those trapped by water. A girl with a kidney condition was rushed to the hospital for dialysis. Volunteers pitched in to help, their actions appreciated by the residents.

Water in the city streets is expected to fully recede Saturday. But it will take much longer for the lives of the people in Yuyao to get back on track.
