話題:

For today's topic, please select one listed below to share your thoughts^^:

1. In your opinion, is it appropriate to apply popular novels to screens such as the form of movies or TV series?

2. Do you think this transformation from novels to movies is a commercial activity, and what are the advantages or drawbacks?

范例1:

Three days ago I went to the cinema to watch the new published movie called "TINY TIMES", this is based on Jingming Guo's novel. The transformation between the novels and movies is hard to define whether it is appropriate or not, which is more dependent on the purpose or motivation behind the story. From my perspective, I have a craving for the novel "Pride and Prejudice" and after I watched the movie I enhanced my understanding about the story. Moreover, it is a successful work that carried out the original theme. However, I did not share strong feelings on "TINY TIMES" and maybe I did not read it before. I consider it as a commercial approach to gain more public attention on Jingming Guo's novels. I hope the development of film industry can focus more on the proper core values in modern society.

范例2:

Whether the transformation of novel to movie is developing the motif or destroying the story depends on the motivation of the creators. In my opinion, most of the producers just do it for commercial benefit. I am always cautious to this type of work and have not seen much. Luckily there are some conscientious producers with their product, such as The Bride with White Hair, and at least they try to decorate the classic rather than trash it. Some of the authors of the novels or movies are truly creative. The most impressive work I have seen is ‘Gone with the wind’, one of the most classical novels and movies as well.
