Democrats and women's rights supporters have protested the bill for weeks, saying conservatives are trying to make the procedure harder to get.

The White House is calling Egypt’s new election plan a positive sign. Egypt’s interim president scheduled a referendum on a new constitution in four months with parliamentary elections two months later. President Barack Obama’s spokesman says the White House is cautiously encouraged.

Mexico's Volcano Popo is spewing ash and vapor into the sky. The area remains on yellow alert, which means no evacuation plans are in place. Some 25 million people live within a 60-mile radius of the volcano.?
