A blizzard has hit the city of Hulun Buir in northern China. Some 300 vehicles and 1,000 people were trapped for more than 12 hours.

The storm stuck on Saturday evening. The temperature plummeted to minus 20 Celsius degrees, and visibility dropped to 3 meters. Lines of stranded vehicles stretched as long as five kilometers. Local authorities have deployed more than 20 firefighters and six snow ploughs. Most of stranded cars have been able to move on.
