MOOC（大規(guī)模在線開放課程）三座大山里的Coursera和edX紛紛宣布，正式開啟國際化戰(zhàn)略。

edX is a massive open online course platform founded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University to offer online university-level courses in a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide audience at no charge. The two institutions have each contributed $30 million of resources to the nonprofit project. edX launched in Fall 2012 and builds on MITx, a similar project launched by MIT in December 2011.

The "learning platform" will be developed as open-source software and made available to other institutions of higher learning that want to make similar offerings; there are plans to allow other schools to offer courses on the edX website also. Plans are to create online learning software that moves beyond videos of lectures to interactive experience.For a modest fee certificates of successful completion will be offered but not college credit. Neither MIT nor Harvard students may take the online courses for credit; they will be used to enrich their learning experience.In addition to educational offerings the project will be used to research learning and distance education.

edX宣布 旗下加盟學(xué)校新增 6 所，包括歐洲荷蘭的 Delft University of Technology、瑞士的 Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne，亞洲則是澳大利亞國立大學(xué)。另外三所分別是加拿大的 McGill 大學(xué)、多倫多大學(xué)，以及美國的萊斯大學(xué)。

edX 是由 MIT 和哈佛聯(lián)合在去年 5 月份推出的非盈利性教育網(wǎng)站，兩所大學(xué)各自投入 3000 萬美元。其課程的形式主要由在線視頻、網(wǎng)頁插入式測(cè)試以及協(xié)作論壇組成。目前已經(jīng)吸引了超過 67.5 萬的學(xué)生，其負(fù)責(zé)人 Anant Agarwal 說今年有望達(dá)到 100 萬學(xué)生，其主要目標(biāo)是同時(shí)服務(wù)于在線和學(xué)校里的學(xué)生。

Coursera is an educational technology company founded by computer science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller from Stanford University. Coursera works with universities to make some of their courses available online, and offers courses in engineering, humanities, medicine, biology, social sciences, mathematics, business, computer science, and other areas.

而由斯坦福大學(xué)教授創(chuàng)立的 Coursera 今天也公布了自己的國際化戰(zhàn)略，新增 29 所學(xué)校、90 門課程以及 4 種新的語言。這 29 所大學(xué)（包括香港中文大學(xué)，詳細(xì)清單見此）將為 Coursera 提供免費(fèi)的課程，而 4 種新語言包括法語、西班牙語、中文以及意大利語。

2 月初，Coursera 宣布5門課程的學(xué)分獲得美國教育委員會(huì)認(rèn)可，標(biāo)志著在線教育進(jìn)入新的里程碑。而另一家專注于實(shí)用課程的 在首輪融資 1.03 億美元后，在本月中旬收購了歐洲在線視頻教育網(wǎng)站Video2brain，也開啟了國際化拓展之路。
