The FINA World Cup of Swimming is in Beijing for the sixth of eight stops - with only Japan and Singapore to come – it’s an opportunity for the male and female leaders of the World Cup points race to consolidate their lead. As CCTV correspondent Tracey Holmes reports, the two superstars didn’t let their fans down on Friday night in the Chinese capital.

Beijing’s Water Cube is a gold diggers dream in the space of two nights there are 36 Gold medals to be won.

The two front runners for the overall World Cup Male and Female Champions titles are not leaving anything to chance.

Three time Olympian Katinka Hosszu of Hungary won gold in the first event of the evening - the gruelling 800 metres - and less than four minutes later was back in the pool for the women’s 200 free.

In all she swam four events, finishing with a distance gold, a medley bronze and an insurmountable lead in the points race.

Hong Kong born Australian Kenneth To is one of the young guns of medley swimming.

He’s already snatched one of the records from Australian great Ian Thorpe and two years ago announced his intentions to the world with a bag of six medals at the Youth Olympic Games.

In Beijing on Friday night from his three events he won gold the men’s 100 individual medley and took bronze in the 100 free to inch ahead of his rivals for the overall crown.

But being a medley swimmer means there’s big shoes to fill following the retirement of Michael Phelps.

But there was only one person the crowd came to see in Beijing - Ye Shiwen - Olympic champion, world record holder and a medley swimmer like no other and she didn’t let them down at home on Friday night - touching the wall a mere one hundredth of a second ahead of the Hungarians to add another gold to her collection.

Ye Shiwen, said, "The result is good. I’m satisfied with my recovery. I will train hard before next Olympics and try to break my own record."

Another 18 gold medals will be awarded on Saturday night before the World Cup moves on to Japan.
