faint

faint的意思是模糊的、微弱的，例如：

Despite of so many difficulties she had gone through, a?faint hope still flickered in her breast.
盡管歷盡艱辛，她的心中還是閃爍著希望的微光。

She threw me a faint smile.
她對(duì)我微微一笑。（faint在形容微笑時(shí)，常含有“勉強(qiáng)”的意思）

They said the painting was too faint to reproduce well.
他們說(shuō)繪畫顏色太淺了，復(fù)制不清楚。

faint還有“暈?！钡囊馑迹?/p>

She suddenly fell forward on to the table and fainted.
她突然向前栽倒在桌上，暈了過(guò)去。

glow

glow的意思是“發(fā)光”，通常指比較微弱穩(wěn)定的：

The cigarette's red glow danced about in the darkness.
香煙的紅色暗光在黑暗中閃爍。

Her hair floats like a banner in the breeze and in the earlymorning light she seems to glow against a background of dark trees.
她的頭發(fā)在微風(fēng)的吹拂下像旗幟一樣飄揚(yáng)，晨光中她在一片黑暗樹木的映襯下仿佛泛出光暈。

也可以指皮膚的光彩：

Her freckled skin glowed with health again.
她那有雀斑的皮膚又泛起健康的光彩。

glow還可以引申為較抽象的含義：

Exercise will give you a glow of satisfaction at having achieved something.
體育鍛煉會(huì)帶給你一種有所成就的喜悅。（a glow of..., 表示某種積極、愉快的感情）

The expectant mothers that Amy had encountered positively glowed with pride.
埃米遇見(jiàn)的孕婦們個(gè)個(gè)臉上都洋溢著幸福和自豪的光彩。
