The stars of Fringe have spoken to Digital Spy about the show's final season.

Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop) told DS that he is excited about "wrapping up all of the pieces of the story".?"We're in this really beautiful place where... the show exists only for the people who are making it and the people who are watching it," Jackson suggested.?"We don't have to worry about ratings anymore... so this is a grace note and it's something that you don't really get very often on a television show."

Showrunner Joel Wyman also claimed that a Fringe continuation - including the rumoured movie - is possible, but unlikely.?"It's the end of this saga," Wyman said of season five. "You never know... but as far as this story and this saga [is concerned] - it's over."

The Fringe cast also praised the sci-fi drama's loyal viewers, with Jackson remarking on the "awesome-ness" of the fans.?"We wouldn't be here... without the fans," agreed John Noble (Walter). "I couldn't hug them all, but if you're watching, I'm hugging ya!"

The final season of Fringe will premiere on Fox in the US on September 28 and will air on Sky1 in the UK.
