作者簡介:
E.B.懷特(1899-1985)生于紐約蒙特弗農(nóng),畢業(yè)于康奈爾大學。也許你對美國作家E.B. 懷特(E.B.White)感到陌生,也許你對《Charlotte's Web》(《夏洛的網(wǎng)》)不是很熟悉,但是一提起一部電影《精靈鼠小弟》,你馬上就知道了,這部電影就是根據(jù)E.B. 懷特(E.B.White)的書改編拍攝的。他還有一部童話叫《吹小號的天鵝》
Chapter 9. Wilbur’s Boast

【舉一反三】creep down和fall down
Creep down和fall down都有滑落的意思,那它們的區(qū)別在哪里呢?
這里我們要看creep和fall的區(qū)別,creep是悄悄偷偷地移動,我們要注意到這個詞在地質學范圍內(nèi)還有土石沙礫徐動的意思。想象下沙土滑落的感覺,平面在滑落后發(fā)生了變形。所以這個詞不僅是動作上的動態(tài),還有物體本身的動態(tài)變化感。而fall就沒有那么動態(tài),它只表示從上到下的位移變化。兩個詞的不同,大家有感覺了么?
