International workers
Many Europeans take a “gap year” and travel before going?to college or beginning a job. And now, more and more people from Asia are choosing this alternative as well.

In 2006, over 28,000 Koreans and 11,000 Japanese worked in Australia. Last year in Taiwan, the 600 working holiday visas offered by New Zealand were quickly snapped up.

Affordable adventure
Working holiday programs enjoy popularity for a number of reasons. With the high cost of travel, working allows people to go abroad without breaking the bank. In addition, they can gain work experience or improve their foreign-language skills. Many people simply go for the adventure or chance to escape responsibility back home. People are drawn overseas even though many jobs invovle manual labor, long hours and low pay. Enployment agencies recruit workers from abroad and help them get visas, find jobs or arrange housing.

The door to a working adventure abroad is wide open. Are you ready to walk through it?
