While Japan celebrates the season of cherry blossoms, the family of capybaras, the world's largestrodents, at a zoo on outskirts of Tokyo, has an even more special reason to do so. Two babies have just joined them.
The newborn capybaras, each weighing just 700 grams, could walk and even jump into the water container as soon as they were born last Friday.
Officials at the Ichihara Elephant Kingdom say the babies rose to the top of the stardom among the 400 animals from all over the world, only few hours after their birth. They've been attracting hundreds more to the zoo's nearly 1,000 visitors on weekends.
The babies are already seen chewing bamboo leaves, their favorite meal. Visitors are enjoying the rare chance to touch the giant rodents before they become "giant."
