Authorities in Pittsburgh say they don't know why a man walked into a waiting room at a psychiatric clinic with two semiautomatic handguns and opened fire. Two people, including the gunman, died, several others were wounded.

Space weather forecasters say the effects of a solar storm could continue through Friday morning. They say the storm, which arrived Thursday, caused a two-hour blackout of high-frequency radio communications.

A video showing 30 beached dolphins being rescued by beachgoers in Brazil has become an Internet senstation. The dolphins were apparently caught in a strong ocean current.

And organizers of a Michigan comedy festival are claiming a Guinness World Record for the most people wearing animal noses at a single venue. 607 people put on fake chicken beaks Thursday. A previous world record in the animal nose-wearing category didn't exist.
