　　On Friday, after three weeks in space, Kiah and Rilla finished work and left Ship OM-45 on a space plane to Kisangani. Kiah phoned Adai and Rilla phoned Commander Zadak in Australia. (1) A taxi took them from the airport to Commander Zadak's office, some kilometres north of Sydney.

　　'Wait for us here,' Kiah said to the taxi driver.

　　Kiah and Rilla walked to the gate. (2) (3)

　　'Rilla, OM-45, 'Rilla said. 'To see Commander Zadak at four-thirty. '

　　'Let me call the Commander's office,' the guard said.

　　Kiah and Rilla waited. (4)

　　The guard came back. 'I'm sorry, 'he said. 'The Commander can't see you. '

　　'But I talked to the Commander yesterday,' Rilla said. 'He wanted to see us at four-thirty. '

　　'The Commander is leaving on the train in three minutes,' the guard said.

　　'Can we wait and see him here?' Kiah asked.

　　'No,' the guard shouted. 'Get out of here!'

　　Kiah and Rilla walked back to the taxi.

　　'Where's the driver?' Kiah asked.

　　'Look! He's sitting by that wall,' Rilla said.

　　Just then, Commander Zadak came out of the gate. He was a very tall, big man with blue eyes and a lot of white hair. (5) They all carried guns.

The next morning they took an aeroplane to Sydney. About ten guards stood in front of the gate. Across the road, a train waited. It was hot and Kiah began to feel thirsty. Two guards marched in front of him, and two guards marched behind him.
這是個(gè)星期五，凱和瑞拉已經(jīng)在太空飛行了三周。他們結(jié)束了工作，離開OM-45號(hào)宇宙飛船，乘航天飛機(jī)飛往基桑加尼。凱和瑞拉分別跟阿岱和在澳大利亞的司令扎達(dá)克通了電話。第二天早晨他們乘飛機(jī)來(lái)到悉尼。一輛出租車把他們從機(jī)場(chǎng)帶到了悉尼以北幾公里以外扎達(dá)克司令的辦公室。 　　“在這兒等我們。”凱吩咐出租車司機(jī)。 　　凱和瑞拉朝大門走去。門口站著大約十幾個(gè)衛(wèi)兵。一輛火車正等在馬路對(duì)面。 　　“我叫瑞拉，OM-45號(hào)的，”瑞拉說(shuō)，“扎達(dá)克司令4點(diǎn)半要接見(jiàn)我們。” 　　“我給司令辦公室打個(gè)電話。”衛(wèi)兵說(shuō)。 　　凱和瑞拉站在那兒等著。天氣很熱，凱感到口干舌燥。 　　那個(gè)衛(wèi)兵回來(lái)了?！皩?duì)不起，”他說(shuō)，“司令不能見(jiàn)你們?！?　　“可是我昨天跟司令說(shuō)過(guò)，”瑞拉說(shuō)，“他答應(yīng)今天4點(diǎn)半見(jiàn)我們?！?　　“再過(guò)三分鐘司令就要坐火車出發(fā)了?！毙l(wèi)兵說(shuō)。 　　“我們能不能在這兒等著見(jiàn)他一面？”凱問(wèn)。 　　“不行！”衛(wèi)兵喊了起來(lái)，“出去！” 　　凱和瑞拉回到出租車那兒。 　　“司機(jī)哪去了？”凱問(wèn)。 　　“那不是嘛！在墻邊坐著呢?！比鹄f(shuō)。 　　正說(shuō)著，扎達(dá)克司令出現(xiàn)在大門口。他高大魁梧，藍(lán)眼睛，長(zhǎng)著一頭濃密的白發(fā)。四個(gè)衛(wèi)兵兩前兩后闊步護(hù)衛(wèi)著他。他們都帶著槍。
