Earlier this year, the record label held similar marathon concerts in Beijing and Shanghai. Now, let's hear some highlights from the big event that transported many middle-aged fans back to the days of their youth.
The six hour concert opened on Sunday afternoon at the Shenzhen Bay Gymnastic Center. Veteran singer Li Jianfu sang "TheDescendant of Dragon", as the opening tune of the concert.
With the theme of "Youth and Classic", the Shenzhen gig featured reinterpretations of some old classics. May Day, Wu Bai and Chang Chengyu belted out "Song of Ordinary People", "Love Ballad 1980" and "Wakening from a Dream", to pay tribute to Janathan Lee, Lo Ta Yo and Sarah Chan, who originally made the songs famous.
Richie Ren, Huang Pin Yuan, and A Niu sang their signature "Girls, Look At Me" to ignite the enthusiastic audience.
Over the past three decades, many songs produced by Rock Records became instant hits. Yu Quan sang their signature song "Rainbow" and "You're the Most Beautiful", which generated a full house karaoke. While Kong Leung and Pin Guan united on stage to sing their hit "Palm", after being separated for years, brought back youthful memories of many audience members.
Rene Liu and Jasmine Leung took to the stage to sing their numbers "It's a Pity It's Not You" and "After", which brought the gig to its grand finale.
The concert chronicled songs labeled by Rock Records that made a mark on the Mandarin pop, and more importantly it recalled cherished memories of fans about a bygone era.
