Following the summit in Hawaii, APEC leaders have issued the "Honolulu Declaration" in which they promised to take concrete steps to establish closer links among their economies and markets for the benefit of all countries.
Among the priorities, the APEC leaders hope to reduce their collective aggregate energy intensity by some 45% by 2035.
They also agreed to eliminate non-tariff barriers that hinder trade in environmental goods and services.
Addressing the meeting, Chinese President Hu Jintao called for "improving global economic governance, shifting the growth methods, promoting economic globalization and regional economic integration."
During his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the APEC meeting, Hu Jintao also stressed the importance of closer Sino-American cooperation.
