The Number 11 seems to be a lucky number for Mandarin pop's biggest star Jay Chou. He released his 11th Mandarin album on Nov. 11th and 2011 marks his 11th year in show biz. Since breaking into the business 11 years ago, Chou has revolutionized the business in ways that not even he could foresee.

Even though his musical style is loosely categorized as R&B and pop music, Jay Chou often injects classical music and the sounds of traditional Chinese instruments in his tracks for an interesting mix.

Since his debut album in 2000, Chou has been labeled as the pioneer in reshaping the Mando-Pop music industry.

However, for his latest work, he's going back to basics, and making music for a younger audience.

Jay Chou said, "I believe that a musician should have a child's heart. Some people would say 'Why pretend to be young? Why sing songs like a cowboy?' I think a lot of kids are listening to my music now. If I bring them happiness, then I bring everyone happiness. I've made a lot more sophisticated tracks in the last 10 albums. There were a lot of songs that adults love. The 11th album is more for the kids."

In addition to finding success musically, Jay Chou has also ventured into acting, and directing. His directorial debut "Secret," is a story about two star-crossed high school sweethearts, who are able to connect and see each other with the help of a magical piano.

Jay Chou said, "Next year, I will use the same cast and crew. I like to employ the same people to do different tasks, because I think we've already got pretty good chemistry. It's also very challenging. Everyone has seen the previous film, you have to step up and do a different story, you have to be convincing. That's the challenge to the actors. So next year, will be the same actors."

Playing the role of Kato alongside Seth Rogen in "Green Hornet" gave Jay Chou his first big break into Hollywood. Since then, Hollywood has kept calling. Chou said that he is holding out for better roles, roles that are more suitable for his persona.
