This Day in History - June 11th
On June 11th, 1967 - The Six-Day War ended.
In June 1967, Israel felt [-----1-----] by a buildup of surrounding Arab forces and replied decisively by [-----2-----] Egypt on the Sinai Peninsula, Syria on the Golan Heights, and Jordan on the West Bank. Virtually all Arab tanks and planes in those territories were destroyed [-----3-----] that left Israel victorious beyond all expectations. When the Six-Day war ended on June 11th, 1967, Israel had sudden control of territories 4 times its original size. But [-----4-----] came in claiming the old city of Jerusalem from Jordan. [-----5-----] at the Wailing Wall. Said Moshe Dayan, “We have returned to the holiest of our holy places - never to depart again.”
