Now want to see a global competitive listing of universities? Look no further than the QS World University Rankings. Now, an education company based in the UK, has again captured the world academia's attention with its annual publication -- the international university league table.
The UK's Cambridge University once again holds its top place in the rankings, after ending Harvard's six-year lead last year. And American and British universities maintain their dominance of the chart this year, with the US occupying six of the top ten spots and the rest awarded to the UK. The University of Hong Kong stands out as the top ranked Asian school at 22.
And Peking University and Tsinghua University from the Chinese mainland also make the top 50, placed at 46 and 47 respectively. A total of 16 Chinese universities made the top 300 chart this year, among which 8 are from the Chinese mainland. The QS World University Rankings has been published annually since 2004. And it has for the first time compared tuition costs for all 600 universities that were surveyed.
