打個(gè)平手,平局/和局

The opponent won the first game and I won the second round. So we’re even. 對(duì)手贏得了第一局的比賽,我贏了第二局,因此我們打平了。

另外打平局還可以這樣表達(dá):It’s a tie/draw.

2. 均衡的,勢(shì)均力敵的,或相等可能性的

如an even fight: 一場(chǎng)勢(shì)均力敵的打斗

又如:an even chance of winning: 具有相同獲勝的機(jī)會(huì)

偶數(shù)的,雙數(shù)的

Two and six are even numbers. 2和6是偶數(shù)。

那么奇數(shù)就是odd numbers

3. even-tempered:性情溫和的,心平氣和的,脾氣好的。

an even temperament/good nature: 溫厚和善的個(gè)性

4. Call it even: 扯平了,兩不相欠

Friends中Chandler責(zé)備Monica:You opened all the presents without me? I thought we were supposed to do that together.

我不在的時(shí)候你就把禮物拆開了?我本想我們會(huì)在一起時(shí)才打開的。

Monica則回敬說:“You kissed another woman.” 你還吻過別的女人呢!這時(shí)的Chandler只好說:“Call it even?”那就扯平了!

其實(shí)even本身就有“扯平了,各不相欠的”的意思,如:

If we each take half, then we’ll be even. 如果我們雙方各拿一半,我們就互不虧欠了。
