A major federal report on last year’s Gulf oil spill could come out today. The spill was the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. The report follows a year of hearing and investigation by the Coast Guard and the government agency in charge of offshore drilling.

New York's 9th Congressional District will have a Republican representative for the first time in nearly a century. GOP candidate Bob Turner defeated Democrat David Weprin to succeed Anthony Weiner. Weiner resigned amid a sexting scandal in June.

Consumer advocate and Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren is joining the Massachusetts senate race. She faces a critic Democratic primary fail and a tough Republican opponent. A recent Boston Globe poll shows Senator Scott Brown is the most popular politician in the traditionally Democratic state.
