Kim Hyun Joong returned to the island on Monday to promote his first solo album, "Break Down." The 25-year-old South Korean pop star held a press conference in Taipei where he expressed his excitement at returning for the first time in two years.

Kim thanked the fans for coming despite the rain to give him support on the day of his arrival.

The star began his career as the lead singer of a popular boy band called SS-501. He later expanded his fan base throughout Asia after starring as the leading actor in a popular South Korean TV series "Boys Over Flowers" in 2009 and then "Playful Kiss" in 2010.

This year, Kim released his first solo album called "Break Down." Taiwan is Kim's third stop on his Asia tour.

He will also visit Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.
