And another festival got underway over the weekend for the third time. It's the Shenzhen Animation Festival, and it has transformed the venue into an adventure-packed playground. There are games to play, and loads inspirational creativity. And what's more, a lot of it comes from the domestic animation industry.

Tens of thousands of young fans have so far flocked to the the festival. While some are immersed in interactive games, others check out the creativity fair. Here, everyday objects are transformed into much coveted works of art.

A fair vendor said, "I collect scraps of old fabric, recycle them and then work them into something of value again. These are actually very popular with the young people."

In the wake of the blockbuster "Transformer 3," the new toy transformers are a much sought after item by the fans. Unbeknownst to most though, nearly half of these intergalactic toy figures originally come from Shenzhen: that is, they are MADE in Shenzhen.

A festival enthusiast, said, "This is already my third time attending the festival. Compared to previous years, there are definitely more indigenous elements, both in animation and the games here."

Last year, the festival attracted more than 500 thousand people from all over the country. This year, the number of attendees is expected to exceed 600-thousand.
