信息選擇陷阱

這類陷阱在雅思聽力測試中經(jīng)常使用,特別是在兩人對話中出現(xiàn)頻繁。一般是由一人提出操作方法讓對方選擇,對方在評價后作出決定。

特別注意:…should do, decide on, vote for, best bet 等提出決定的用法,以及一些表示評價的形容詞,這時要分清誰是做決定者,做決定的人的語氣一般有一定提示作用。

本題答案(the)Newsletter(時事通訊)。

原文錄音:JOAN: Where do you think I should put up the notice?

Where everyone’s guaranteed to see it.

PETER: On the café notice board I should think.

JOAN: Hardly anyone looks at that.

PETER: Well, the Newsletter is probably your best bet.

JOAN: Good idea. I’ll go and do that now.

破題密碼:PETER本來想把通知貼在notice board(通知布告欄)上,但JOAN說幾乎沒有人看,用了hardly這個否定副詞,推翻PETER的提議。接著用best bet(最佳選擇)這個用法,最后確定用Newsletter(時事通訊)。

破題密碼:MARY COLLINS詢問設(shè)計名稱,但提示:Keep it short(盡量短點)。

但JOHN BROWN給出了jigsaw puzzle design for visually handicapped(給視覺有障礙的人設(shè)計的拼圖)。很多考生聽到這個答案馬上暈了,但很明顯,這個答案太長,超過一般填空題的規(guī)定字?jǐn)?shù),肯定不是雅思聽力的正常答案,所以考生聽到后無需驚慌。MARY COLLINS之后也說了Too long(太長),意味著考生們還有一次機(jī)會。最后的答案只需填寫B(tài)lind Puzzle(盲人拼圖)。由于很多考生對這個詞組不熟,所以本題失分率超過半數(shù)。

破題密碼:? 本題是此類陷阱中討論方式最復(fù)雜,難度系數(shù)最高的題目之一。

“第一重機(jī)關(guān)”:

剛開始BRIAN詢問TUTOR(老師)是否有任務(wù)要做,是否需要(reading)看書,而TUTOR回答:希望把課程和看書結(jié)合在一起,we don’t give out a reading list in advance(我們不會提前發(fā)書單。)所以答案C:read a book是錯誤的。但很多考生聽到reading這個詞,就“激動地”選擇了答案C,很可惜。

“第二重機(jī)關(guān)”:

TUTOR后面提到了case study(個案研究)。但BRIAN說I’ve already done that(已經(jīng)做過了),由于問題是What is Brian going to do before the course starts?(BRIAN課程開始前“需要”做什么?)這意味著答案B:write a report是錯誤的,于是又有一部分同學(xué)“中彈了”。

“第三重機(jī)關(guān)”:

最后,BRIAN提出想sit in on a teaching session(參加教學(xué)課程),而TUTOR說了Fine(好的),表示肯定,意味著答案A:attend a class(上課)是正確答案。
