An escalator at a subway station in Shenzhen city, Southern China's Guangdong Province, broke down on Sunday night causing some injuries.

According to witnesses, the escalator moving up suddenly changed its direction, and went down. Passengers then lost their balance, and some were injured. It happened outside the rush hour and there was no panic. The escalator was made by a company of CNIM, a French escalator maker. An investigation is going on. This accident is the latest in a number of similar recent ones in subways in some cities across China, including the capital city Beijing.
