This is AP News Minute.

Workers at the Los Alamos nuclear laboratory say they are standing by with fire resistant foam to protect nuclear waste. A 95-square-mile fire got as close as 50 feet from laboratory grounds at one point Tuesday. But lab officials say the blaze would have to jump canyons to get close to outdoor drums of nuclear waste.

Violent clashes continue in Greece. Protesters tossed anything they had at riot police in Athens. Demonstrators are angry about an austerity program that would mean severe budget and benefit cuts.

President Obama talks about the national debt and the budget with Senate Democrats today. It's the second day of meetings after House and Senate leaders couldn’t reach an agreement on spending cuts and the debt ceiling. Obama and the vice president will meet with Senators Reid, Durbin, Schumer and Murray.

And a wayward emperor penguin will have a lot of swimming to do. Wild life officials say they will release the bird once it’s healthy into the Southern Ocean. Then they say the rest is up to him.
