1975年的7月1日，密歇根州底特律城，Stevens夫婦在家門口發(fā)現(xiàn)了一個(gè)牛奶箱，里面裝著一個(gè)用塑料紙包裹的嬰兒，它的手腕上系著一張神秘的字條：‘I love you’，這個(gè)嬰兒就是后來(lái)的Sufjan Stevens。
Sufjan Stevens的音樂有中很強(qiáng)烈的鄉(xiāng)土意識(shí)，在INDIE音樂中，他的音樂應(yīng)該算是NEOFOLK（新民謠）或者Progressive Folk。這種音樂以內(nèi)省、復(fù)雜的POST-DYLAN（后BOB DYLAN民謠）音樂為起點(diǎn)，在文字層面和音樂層面都有新的發(fā)展，而且常常融合了來(lái)自不同的民族音樂風(fēng)格的影響。
