n. 繼任者；接替者；后續(xù)事務(wù)

Successor = suc-（下，低）+ -cess-（行走）+ -or（名詞詞尾，人），即走到底，引申詞義“繼任者、接替者”，比如legal successor法定/合法繼承人、 lawful successor合法繼承人、appropriate successor合適的接班人、successor auditor后任審計(jì)師。

Successor后常接to sb/sth，如name a successor to the General Manager任命總經(jīng)理接班人。其同近義詞inheritor主要指對(duì)財(cái)產(chǎn)的繼承，而successor包含對(duì)某一事業(yè)的繼承。

董事會(huì)現(xiàn)在必須趕快任命繼任者。
