?The Chinese mainland will continue to strengthen the regulations for Taiwan investors here. The mainland's chief of Taiwan affairs, Wang Yi, says the government will make substantial progress this year to deepen cross-Strait investment protection.
Hailing stronger business and trade ties between the mainland and Taiwan over the past few years, Wang Yi, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, says a working group will be established to push forward the formation of a cross-Strait investment agreement.
Wang Yi, Director of Taiwan Affairs Office, State Council said "We will launch a cross-Strait disputes settlement mechanism to deal with our goods and services trade relationships. Meanwhile, we will also speed up talks on an investment protection agreement."
Wang Yi, says the Taiwan Affairs Office will make greater efforts with the Taiwan authorities to open individual tours for mainland tourists.
Wang Yi said "We hope common ground can be reached by the cross-Straits tourism authorities, so individual tours of mainland tourists visiting Taiwan can be kicked off as soon as possible."
Wang expects these tours to Taiwan to begin in the first half of 2011.
Wang says he also hopes that citizens on both sides will have a deeper understanding of each other through closer contact.
