November 19th, 1863, “Fourscore and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation.” During the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln delivers what becomes known as the Gettysburg Address. He speaks at the dedication of a National Cemetery in Pennsylvania on the side of one of the war’s major battles just months earlier.
