It's the message that India was hoping to hear. President Barack Obama endorsed that country's bid to be a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council. But it would be part of a long-term package of U.N. reforms that could take years.

Jurors in Connecticut voted unanimously to send Steven Hayes to death row for his role in a home invasion where a woman was strangled and her two daughters tied to their beds then left to die in a fire. The judge will impose the sentence next month.

Tom Foley, the Republican candidate for governor of Connecticut, has conceded the race despite questions about the election process. Foley said he could have tried to challenge the use of some photocopied ballots, but ultimately he says they weren't enough to affect the outcome of the race.

And Vladimir Putin took a Formula One race car out for a spin Sunday. The Russian prime minister reached speeds of almost 150 miles per hour. Putin signed a deal last month with Formula One to bring the sport to Russia starting in 2014.
