President Barack Obama is trumpeting his efforts to help women in the workforce. He's turned to rally key Democratic constituencies ahead of the election. Obama says female business owners have particularly benefited from his administration's efforts to free up lending for small businesses.

Mexican officials spent a second day burning around 148 tons of marijuana. The drugs were seized Monday. The drugs were doused in gasoline and set alight in a large bonfire.

Newly-released video shows the rescue of a man who in August fell onto Washington DC's metro rail tracks by another who bounded across two tracks. The rescuer even stepped on the flimsy cover of the electrified and very dangerous third rail.

A reporter for the Vatican newspaper stands by his story that the family in "The Simpsons" TV show is Catholic. The producer of the long-running animated show says the Simpsons are actually Presby-Lutheran.
