On October 27, 1927, The first newsreel with sound debuts.

October 27, 1927, Hollywood turns reportorial as the first newsreel featuring sound is released to accompany a feature film in New York. Fox Movietone News was the first to employ sound in the newsreel, only 3 weeks after the opening of "The Jazz Singer", the world's first talking feature. Major Hollywood studios such as MGM, United Artists, and Paramount quickly sought licensing from the Victor Talking Machine Company, even while U.A. president, Joseph Schenck called talkies just a fad. Mixing sound to picture made the newsreels a movie house fixture until the 1950s when it was clear that television had become better equipped to be the new eyes and ears of the world.
