BP says it will start testing today to determine if a new device on top of the leaking oil well in the Gulf is working. BP will gradually shut the valves to see if the oil stops or if it starts leaking from another part of the well. The capping project is a temporary fix, the flow of oil will not stop until a pair of relief wells are finished next month.

The so-called Barefoot Bandit is expected to make his first court appearance today in the Bahamas. Polices say Colton Harris-Moore faces a litany of charges including suspicion of illegal weapons possession. The Washington state native is suspected of stealing cars, boats and at least five airplanes after his 2008 escape from a halfway house.

Investigators in Uganda have found an unexploded suicide vest in a disco hall in the capital of Kampala. It comes a day after two explosions went off at a rugby cafe where crowds gathered to watch the World Cup final. At least 76 people were killed.

Polices in New Mexico say a gunman angry about dispute with his girlfriend, forced his way into the manufacturing plant where she works, killing two employees before turning the gun on himself. Four others were wounded in the rampage, the gunman is identified as 37-year-old Robert Reza.
