This actor has acted a writer once before, but writing a book in real life is a whole new ball game. 雖然這演員曾經(jīng)扮演過一名作家，但是在現(xiàn)實生活中寫一本書完全是另一種情況。

Writer：作者，作家

例句：Shakespeare is the greatest English writer that ever lived.（莎士比亞是有史以來最偉大的英國作家。）

與author同義，這兩個名詞皆有“作者，作家”之意。

Author泛指用自己名字或筆名發(fā)表過作品的人，不強調(diào)是否以寫作為主職業(yè)。Writer 含義廣泛，一般指以寫作為職業(yè)的人。

A whole new ball game = A totally different ball game

例子：If he wins, it's a whole new ball game. （如果他贏了，將完全是另一種情況。）

I've given you my word and I’m sure to help you. / 我答應(yīng)過你，我肯定會幫你的。

Give you my word = I promise you; You have my word; I give you my word; I swear to you. 我保證 / 一言為定。

例句：I give you my word (of honor) I won't tell anyone.（我保證不告訴別人。）

I'm sure…：我肯定……

例句：I am sure that you will understand. （我肯定你會理解。）

I hope you to let your hair down and tell me what happened. 我希望你能坦率地告訴我到底發(fā)生了什么。

to let your hair down有“坦率地”的意思，比方坦率地告訴別人內(nèi)心滴感覺和秘密。

例如：Come on. Let your hair down and tell me what you really think.

to let one's hair down的另一種說法和用法，表示“To relax and enjoy yourself, especially in a lively way.（放松；輕松一下）”

例如：It's about time you let your hair down and had some fun!

Jump through hoops：（口語）作出很大努力，費盡千辛萬苦

例如：To conclude, I wish the Summit a complete success!（最后，祝大會取得圓滿成功！）

Between sheets：睡覺，在被窩里

例如：I am tired after all that walking and I can't wait to get between the sheets.（走了那么遠的路我累了，我要馬上睡覺了。）

例如：Once a week, a maid changes the sheets.

1. Carry on表示“繼續(xù)開展，堅持”，比如說：

2. Rain or shine：無論晴雨，風(fēng)雨無阻，無論如何

例如：Don't worry. I'll be there rain or shine.

3. All (the) year round：一年到頭; 長年累月

例子：It is hot in Mexico all the year round. 在墨西哥整年都很熱。

Well-read：博覽群書的，博學(xué)的

例子：My father was well-read in history. （我父親通曉史書。）

Cultured：有教養(yǎng)的，有修養(yǎng)的，講究的，文雅的

例子：He is always steady and reliable in whatever he does. He is really well-cultured. （他無論做什么事總是非常穩(wěn)重，不急躁，的確很有修養(yǎng)。）
